brewing-information Description
This unique tea selection from the island of Taiwan (Formosa) was one of Mr. Wendell’s first tea imports and his personal favorite. Formosa Keemun is a visually attractive tea composed of long, silvery leaves, contrasting with darker colored mainland China Keemun style teas.

When brewed, it yields a full-bodied brew with a pleasant aroma and taste reminiscent of stone fruit. If you enjoy the characteristics of Chinese black tea, then this superb tea that is not to be overlooked.

Brewing Tips: M.T.W. Formosa Keemun loose leaf tea should be made with cold, filtered water that has been brought to a rolling boil (205-212° F). Using one rounded teaspoon of loose tea or one teabag for each cup required, pour the boiling water over the tea leaves. M.T.W. Formosa Keemun tea should be steeped for 4-5 minutes. Once the ideal brewing time has been reached, the leaves should be removed to prevent further steeping. Decant and enjoy!

This black tea has nice flavor and good body. Not too heavy and not bitter. It would be a relaxing afternoon tea.

I have tried several different Leaf teas recently trying to replace Harrods' of London Tea blends. Wendell tea has done this quite well. The aroma was somewhat off putting, having somewhat less than pleasant 'fermented grass leaves' odor, but i know that this is due to the black leaf fermentation and does not carry over to the flavour. The M.T.W Formosa Keemun is Brews with a very nice colour similar to Fall Oak Leaves. The taste is robust, plesant, and quite smooth. I brewed 4 rounded teaspoons with 5 cups of water at 212 F for 4.5 minutes.

This is one of my favorite MTW teas. It reminds me of a delicious, earthy tea served at one of my local Asian food restaurants. I drink this tea as both a pick-me-up and as a comfort brew. It has such a wonderful aroma! Highly recommended!

A very pleasant and tasty tea

One of my very favorite teas. It has a more mellow flavor than most of the Chinese Keemuns and it's a bit more brisk. I like it in the afternoons and evenings. It also makes an excellent iced tea.

    My very favorite tea

I have been drinking MTW Keemun as my favorite morning tea for well over 15 years now------it's definitely my first choice --always!

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take for my order to ship?

We strive to ship orders within 2-3 days of receipt. However, due to the handcrafted nature of our products, combined with inventory limitations, some orders may take longer to ship. If there is a significant delay in shipping your order, we will contact you directly with details.

Are your teas cultivated naturally? Are they Organic?

All our teas are sourced from tea estates, suppliers and importers that we have personally worked with for decades and many for generations! We only purchase teas that have been cultivated naturally, devoid of pesticides and growth agents.

Teas that have the term “Organic” in the products name have gone through additional certification by the country or origin and USFDA. Even though all our products are natural, we are unable to list them as Organic unless they have gone through these steps. Sometimes, this certification can be costly and time consuming for growers. Each country has different regulations, so many sell the teas to us without this extra labeling.

How long does tea stay fresh?

If sealed properly and stored away from extreme hot/cold temps and moisture, tea will stay as flavorful as the day you bought it, even after 18 months.

How long should I brew my tea?

Tea brewing times and water temperature can vary between tea varieties. Please consult this link to find the best method for your tea!
