The finest Japanese Sencha green tea leaves are blended with roasted rice and popped corn to create a robust, nutty-flavored Japanese rice tea.
A favorite among Japanese tea drinkers abroad, this unique blend yields an easy drinking cup that lacks the sharp overtones characteristic to teas from this region.
Brewing Tips: Our Japanese Genmaicha Green tea should be made with cold, filtered water that has been brought to a boil and then allowed to cool for 2 minutes (160-170° F). Using one rounded teaspoon of loose tea or one teabag for each cup required, pour the boiling water over the tea leaves. Genmaicha Green tea should be steeped for 2 minutes. Once the ideal brewing time has been reached, the leaves should be removed to prevent further steeping. Decant and enjoy!
How Much Tea Do I Need?
1 pound of loose leaf tea will make approximately 160 cups of brewed tea
8 ounces of loose leaf tea will make approximately 80 cups of brewed tea
4 ounces of loose leaf tea will make approximately 40 cups of brewed tea
I fell in love with Mark T. Wendell’s Japanese Genmaicha Green for it’s refreshing purity of the tea, and unique nuttiness of the roasted rice. I cannot find another Genmaicha Green that is this high of quality and most affordable price.
This is one of those teas that you will either love or hate.
Genmaicha (玄米茶) literally means "roasted rice tea", aptly named. The tea has a distinct scent like popped corn and a flavour reminiscent of Rice Crispy treats. Loose-leaf, brewed from boiling water at five minutes, goes well with a small amount of sugar and milk. For some people (indeed everyone else in my family) this tea is too exotic for them. But genmaicha has little caffeine even compared to most other green teas, and the theanine aids concentration for students such as myself.
My one complain (which was purely aesthetic) is that the word "Genmaicha" was misspelt on the tin's label as "Genmiacha". Other than that, I would recommend this tea to anyone with the courage to try it.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take for my order to ship?
We strive to ship orders within 2-3 days of receipt. However, due to the handcrafted nature of our products, combined with inventory limitations, some orders may take longer to ship. If there is a significant delay in shipping your order, we will contact you directly with details.
Are your teas cultivated naturally? Are they Organic?
All our teas are sourced from tea estates, suppliers and importers that we have personally worked with for decades and many for generations! We only purchase teas that have been cultivated naturally, devoid of pesticides and growth agents.
Teas that have the term “Organic” in the products name have gone through additional certification by the country or origin and USFDA. Even though all our products are natural, we are unable to list them as Organic unless they have gone through these steps. Sometimes, this certification can be costly and time consuming for growers. Each country has different regulations, so many sell the teas to us without this extra labeling.
How long does tea stay fresh?
If sealed properly and stored away from extreme hot/cold temps and moisture, tea will stay as flavorful as the day you bought it, even after 18 months.
How long should I brew my tea?
