Overview of Darjeeling

Our Darjeeling offering is grown in the high-altitude foothills of the Himalayas at the Badamtam Estate. Teas grown in this region tend to have a stimulating taste and aroma, setting them apart from other black teas. Often called the “Queen of Indian Teas”, Darjeeling is a full-bodied tea whose infused leaf produces a cup with a coppery-red sparkle and a hint of delicate fruit overtones.

Our Darjeeling should be made with cold, filtered water that has been brought to a rolling boil (205-212° F). Using one rounded teaspoon of loose tea or one teabag for each cup required, pour the boiling water over the tea leaves. Darjeeling should be steeped for 3 minutes. Once the ideal brewing time has been reached, the leaves should be removed to prevent further steeping. Decant and enjoy!

My favorite Mark T Wendell tea.

This has been my favorite tea for a long time. I've tried other Darjeelings and some are good, some not so good, some bitter. MTW Darjeeling is just perfect in my opinion. It brews up into a nice not too strong cup, with a flowery aroma and a slight briskness. MTW is very consistent in choosing their Darjeeling and it has produced a wonderful cup of tea for the many years that I have been buying it. I like other teas, but I always come back to Darjeeling. It's the tea I drink the most of.

This is the tea that I wait every July for, so that I can order it in your annual summer tea sale! I wish I could afford it all year, as it is my favorite, but it is always worth waiting for!

I'd never tried Darjeeling before, and this tea took some getting used to, but it is now one of my favorite black teas. I can drink it all day long, but I love it in the afternoon. The leaves from Margaret's Hope Estate are smooth, spicy, and rich and hold up well to milk, but the tea tastes equally delicious plain. I do not recommend sweetener of any kind.
