brewing-information Description
Our Russian Caravan tea blend is a beguiling mix of select Indian, Chinese and Sri Lankan black teas that brew into a pleasing cup of tea each and every time! A tea enthusiast's favorite, our Russian Caravan tea blend contains no smoky aromas, making it truly unique.

Centuries ago, this blend of black tea was so sought after in Russia that special caravans were commissioned to personally deliver it to the Czar. Aptly named, this tea is a one of a kind blend that will soon become one of your favorites as well.

Brewing Tips: Our Russian Caravan tea blend should be made with cold, filtered water that has been brought to a rolling boil (205-212° F). Using one rounded teaspoon of loose tea or one teabag for each cup required, pour the boiling water over the tea leaves. Russian Caravan tea should be steeped for 4-5 minutes. Once the ideal brewing time has been reached, the leaves should be removed to prevent further steeping. Decant your Russian caravan tea and enjoy!

    Russian Caravan

This is a very robust and tasty tea. I look forward to drinking it in the early morning to help me wake up.

    A " go to" tea

Russian Caravan is my husband’s and my go-to morning tea—every morning. My mother introduced it to me years ago—for her, it was an afternoon pick-me-up on cold days. For us, the rich flavor and high-octane kick make for a daily wake-up call. A pot of this brew will go a long way—and it’s great iced in the summer, with a splash of lemonade, too.

I started out with Wendell's Tea 38 years ago when I lived in Lomira, Wisconsin, and Russian Caravan was my starting favorite. After all these years, it still is! I drink many other Wendell's tea, but few compare to this one!

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take for my order to ship?

We strive to ship orders within 2-3 days of receipt. However, due to the handcrafted nature of our products, combined with inventory limitations, some orders may take longer to ship. If there is a significant delay in shipping your order, we will contact you directly with details.

Are your teas cultivated naturally? Are they Organic?

All our teas are sourced from tea estates, suppliers and importers that we have personally worked with for decades and many for generations! We only purchase teas that have been cultivated naturally, devoid of pesticides and growth agents.

Teas that have the term “Organic” in the products name have gone through additional certification by the country or origin and USFDA. Even though all our products are natural, we are unable to list them as Organic unless they have gone through these steps. Sometimes, this certification can be costly and time consuming for growers. Each country has different regulations, so many sell the teas to us without this extra labeling.

How long does tea stay fresh?

If sealed properly and stored away from extreme hot/cold temps and moisture, tea will stay as flavorful as the day you bought it, even after 18 months.

How long should I brew my tea?

Tea brewing times and water temperature can vary between tea varieties. Please consult this link to find the best method for your tea!
