    Brewing Suggestions

    In order to enjoy the unique flavor of your HU-KWA Tea, we recommend brewing using the instructions perfected by Mr. Wendell! Firstly, bring cold, filtered water to a rolling boil (205-212° F). Using one rounded teaspoon of loose tea or one teabag for each cup required, pour the boiling water over the tea leaves. Allow your HU-KWA Tea to steep for 5-5 ½ minutes. Stir, and let the tea settle for about one-half minute. Once the ideal brewing time has been reached, the leaves should be removed to prevent further steeping. HU-KWA Tea is best appreciated when drunk clear. Milk or too much sugar compromises its delicate flavor. A little cream goes well but sugar should be used sparingly.

    Brewing Tips: Huo Shan Yellow Sprouting tea should be made with cold, filtered water that has been brought to a rolling boil and then allowed to cool for a minute (170-180° F). Using one rounded teaspoon of loose tea or one teabag for each cup required, pour the water over the tea leaves. Yellow tea should be steeped for 1½-2 minutes. With this in mind, we have created a special blend of Ceylon, China and Indonesian black teas that will make a refreshing glass of iced tea every time! This blend yields a full, rich flavor with superior clarity. You have never tasted black iced tea this amazing before!

    Brewing Tips: To make a great tasting glass of iced tea, brew one quart of cold, filtered water for every 6 tea bags or 6 teaspoons of loose tea used. Remember that you make iced tea stronger than regular hot tea to compensate for ice dilution. Once the water has come to a boil, pour it directly over the tea and steep Green Teas for 3 minutes and Black Teas for 5 minutes. Remove the teabags or strain the loose tea out of the teapot. Let the brewed tea cool down to room temperature before adding ice. Chilling the tea after it has cooled helps keep the brew’s appearance clear. If your chilled glass of iced tea clouds, try slicing some citrus fruit and adding it to the glass. Since they make a nice garnish, many iced tea drinkers will add lemons, limes, oranges and even grapefruit slices. These fruits are high in acid and will help balance the tea’s PH level, thus making it visually clearer. If tea clouds immediately following brewing, lower the water’s brewing temperature.
