brewing-information Description

Rich and full bodied with a pungent astringency and juicy brisk character, our Mountain Kenya tea offering is sourced from central Kenya’s Michimikuru Tea Estate. This region of Kenya is comprised of sprawling tea bushes that spread out across the land as far as the eye can see.

When brewed, this larger leaf tea selection has a bright liquor and a crisp finish with just a hint of that juniper note that is characteristic of good Kenyan teas. If you prefer your tea strong and robust, this is an easy drinking style of tea that will not disappoint.

Brewing Tips: Our Mountain Kenya tea should be made with cold, filtered water that has been brought to a rolling boil (205-212° F). Using one rounded teaspoon of loose tea or one teabag for each cup required, pour the boiling water over the tea leaves. Mountain Kenya tea should be steeped for 4-5 minutes. Once the ideal brewing time has been reached, the leaves should be removed to prevent further steeping. Decant your Mountain Kenya tea and enjoy!

How Much Tea Do I Need?

1 pound of loose leaf tea will make approximately 160 cups of brewed tea

My brother gave me a bag of this years ago and it has become my favorite tea. Plenty of flavor without being harsh. I prefer it to all the other Ceylon and Assam teas.

This is one of my favorite teas - it is my go-to when I'm having a rough morning and need a little extra pick-me-up. Wonderful flavor, delightful either with or without sweetener. I like strong tea, so I use a heaping teaspoonful per cup; if you're not a fan of strong tea, you should use less, since this tea is more concentrated than some.

Mountain Kenta is my absolute favorite tea! It has a clear reddish brown hue to it and a healthy "bite" that I enjoy. I drink it all day long.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take for my order to ship?

We strive to ship orders within 2-3 days of receipt. However, due to the handcrafted nature of our products, combined with inventory limitations, some orders may take longer to ship. If there is a significant delay in shipping your order, we will contact you directly with details.

Are your teas cultivated naturally? Are they Organic?

All our teas are sourced from tea estates, suppliers and importers that we have personally worked with for decades and many for generations! We only purchase teas that have been cultivated naturally, devoid of pesticides and growth agents.

Teas that have the term “Organic” in the products name have gone through additional certification by the country or origin and USFDA. Even though all our products are natural, we are unable to list them as Organic unless they have gone through these steps. Sometimes, this certification can be costly and time consuming for growers. Each country has different regulations, so many sell the teas to us without this extra labeling.

How long does tea stay fresh?

If sealed properly and stored away from extreme hot/cold temps and moisture, tea will stay as flavorful as the day you bought it, even after 18 months.

How long should I brew my tea?

Tea brewing times and water temperature can vary between tea varieties. Please consult this link to find the best method for your tea!
