Overview of Organic Chun Mee Green

This organic green tea offering is a very popular style of Chinese tea. Chun Mee, also known as “precious eyebrow” tea, has a remarkable, distinctive plum-like flavor. Our Organic Chun Mee combines this plum-like flavor with a smooth, sweet aroma that makes a satisfying cup of tea.

Our Organic Chun Mee Green tea should be made with cold, filtered water that has been brought to a boil and then allowed to cool for 1 minute (170-180° F). Using one rounded teaspoon of loose tea or one teabag for each cup required, pour the boiling water over the tea leaves. Organic Chun Mee Green tea should be steeped for 2-3 minutes. Once the ideal brewing time has been reached, the leaves should be removed to prevent further steeping. Decant and enjoy!

I don't defect plums, but this tea has a certain spiciness

Chun Mee leaves are a lovely dark green with blue undertones, dense, flat, and on the small size. My fine strainer leaves a tiny amount of sediment at the bottom of the cup, due to escaping leaf particles, which may have become prematurely crushed by my handling of the sample bag.

A rounded (2 g) teaspoon in a 6-ounce cup is my favorite ratio, producing a full-bodied, brisk, golden-green liquor with a slight peppery sensation. Each sip makes my tongue tingle pleasantly. I recently went on a green tea sample bender at MTW, and I will purchase a full size of Chum Mee in my next order. This is a great tea for the first cup of the day, and the following 1-2 infusions with the same leaves are just as tasty, albeit a touch less brisk.

I bought this for Kombucha

I bought several teas in bulk from Wendell for kombucha; with bulk pricing and free shipping it was the best deal for quality. Green Tea can turn bitter if fermented for too long for kombucha. We ferment this for five days. It produces a light delicate flavored kombucha. If you put a couple of thin strips of fresh ginger in when you bottle it (letting it sit a couple days before refrigerating) it is the closest taste to ginger ale you will find. I'm satisfied with this tea and my Japanese wife likes it very much simply as tea.
