First Flush Darjeeling Tea from Mark T. Wendell Tea Company.


Comprised of the first tender shoots of the newly grown tea plant, First Flush Darjeeling tea is a unique find and is rarely available in this country. We sampled many of Darjeeling’s first pickings in 2008 and finally found that the crop from the Margaret’s Hope Estate was the best available. This season’s pickings are an attractive mix of green and black with many silver buds, yielding a light gold infusion. The brewed cup has a fresh, green aroma. It finishes with a soft, lush grapey taste with slight floral overtones. To achieve the best taste, brew for 3 minutes in water that has been brought to a boil and then allowed to cool for a minute.
